Jon Mitchell

Mitchell is in his third season
as an assistant coach for Faulkner University, where he works with the
pitchers and catchers and directs all recruiting efforts. In his first
two years at Faulkner, Mitchell coached two catchers who were both named
first-team All-SSAC and one who was named first-team All-American and
drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Mitchell came to Faulkner after spending
one season at Jefferson State Community College in Birmingham, Ala. Jon
started his coaching career at Young Harris College, where he coached
the catchers and hitters. Mitchell played college baseball at Snead State
Community College and at Auburn University of Montgomery. He is married
to the former Susan Hamilton of Decatur, Ala., and they reside in Birmingham.
