1st Year with Hyannis

Tim Burgess, a native of Dallas, Ga., is in his second season as an assistant at Young Harris College, working with former Mets head coach Rick Robinson. As a coach at Young Harris, Burgess's responsibilities include working with the outfielders, strength and conditioning, assisting with the hitters and recruiting. Beginning his college career at Young Harris as a first baseman/outfielder, Burgess helped lead the Mountain Lions to back-to-back GJCAA championships in 2001 and 2002.  In two seasons at Young Harris College he batted .340 with 10 home runs. Following his time at Young Harris, Burgess transferred to Georgia State University, where he earned two All-Atlantic Sun honors, compiling a batting average of .363 for the Panthers.  During his final season in Atlanta, Burgess set school records in batting average (.420) and on-base percentage (.530) along with a record 21-game hitting streak.  His .420 average was ranked seventh in the nation in 2004. For his efforts in his senior campaign, Burgess was chosen in the 22nd round of the 2004 amateur draft by the Boston Red Sox, playing for two seasons in Lowell, Mass., Augusta, Ga., and Wilmington, Del. Coach Burgess holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Georgia State University.
